WHAT IS DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT?
Demand Side Management is a mechanism to influence customer’s CAPABILITY and WILLINGNESS to reduce electricity consumption. It is a utility program aiming to fine-tune consumers’ energy consumption pattern, according to the utility’s energy production and distribution capacity. DSM programs consist of the planning, implementing, and monitoring activities of electric utilities that are designed to encourage consumers to modify their level and pattern of electricity usage. Demand side management relies on a combination of using high efficiency equipment and efficient use of electricity through good operating practice.
Demand Side Management (DSM) is the implementation of policies and measures which serve to control, influence and generally reduce electricity demand. DSM aims to improve final electricity-using systems, reduce consumption, while preserving the same level of service and comfort.
